My my My my
Change Team:
Competition Info

Good evening cheerleaders and parents, I wanted to address the competition situation.

There are several key points that may or may not be deciding factors as to whether the cheerleaders will be going or not.

1. Mixed Cheer: First and most importantly, our teams are far too small at this point, we will need to combine teams in order to compete. This is called "mixed cheer" and there are many many towns experiencing this problem. So basically we would have one team for 3rd and 4th graders and one team for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Although this might seem intimidating, I can assure you that there is nothing that I would allow the girls to do that is above their skill set level or dangerous. As a coach, it is my duty to ensure that all girls are being safe at all times. With that being said, we would have to enter into a league level that is best suited for all girls involved on the team as a whole.

2. Costs-$200 TOTAL: 50% due upfront and 50% due before the first competition. As of right now, without any fundraising what-so-ever, the cost of each cheerleader is set around $200. The first $100 would be due by October 1st and last $100 due by November 1st. During that time, we will be able to fundraise and potentially cover some or possibly all of the costs of the fees for the second $100 that is due by November first. In short, you may expect to pay a minimum of $100 and a maximum of $200 for all of the (3) competitions we attend (not $200 per competition, but $200 total for all

3).The fees are for the following items, including but not limited to: registration fees for each comp, choreography, music, and gym time. 3. Competition Dates and location: As of right now, nothing is set in stone. Competition dates are currently pending on the 6th, 13th and 20th of November 2021. Locations for said competitions are also pending in Brockton, North Plymouth and Bridgewater Raynham.

4. Practices for competition team: Pending that we have enough girls to move forward; practices will take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This includes gym time. All of our gym time is scheduled to be on select Saturdays. Practice time is to be determined. Wednesdays will be scheduled from 6 pm- 7:30 pm at the Pierce Playground. I, personally, have a competition grade floor mat that can fit 2 stunts comfortably. I'd be happy to share this mat between the two squads to ensure that any new skills are practiced using the mat for safety purposes.

5. Gym time: Select Saturdays. Each cheerleader is set to pay $5 per class. This is included in the bullet regarding "Costs". The gym is located in Taunton, called Cheer Legacy Gym: 391 W. Water St., Taunton, MA 02780. At this time, we are unable to accommodate practices at the HBB school, YMCA Middleboro, Middleboro HS, Congragrational Church uptown or any other locations we have used in the past. All coaches are currently working diligently to accommodate gym time for the girls to practice as the wheather gets cooler.

6. Uniform/Props: All of the girls will use the uniforms, shoes and Pom Poms that they already have for Football Cheer. Uniform, Chasse Zone cheer shoe and Pom Poms are all listed on the MMC website as mandatory and to be used at competition. No additional fees will be accrued for uniforms of any kind.

7. Declare by November 1st: We must declare and present a roster by November 1st. This means that all applicable fees are due by this date. As a whole, we would like a definite answer regarding girls that are going to be competing by this Sunday, September 19th. The first fee of $100 is due by October 1st and we will begin practice as early as next Wednesday if that works for both teams and all cheerleaders.

8. Sportsmanship: As cheerleaders, at times we are faced with dangerous situations. It is of the utmost importance that these girls get to know one another and trust one another - very quickly. I believe after a few ice breakers/fun games that we should have a solid foundation to proceed with each team and carry on the legacy of MMC cheer. In the past, we have done extremely well at competitions and have even had the opportunity to recieve bids to nationals. The goal is not to win, but to work as a team to show off our skill set levels. Whether we are considered an "Elite squad" or "intermediate squad", that doesn't matter, what does matter is these kids looking forward to that "Big Day" where we all get dressed in our uniform, do the hair and makeup and perform well together on the mat.

9. Football Playoffs Schedule: It is necessary to rememeber that if the girls have competition earlier in the day and their football team has a playoff game at night, they are required to also attend the football game. Please do not hesitate to reach out to myself with any questions at all, I'd be happy to answer your question/concern or point you in the right direction.
